High self-esteem is a vital ingrediant to feeling good about yourself whether you are a parent or a child. For parents it is particularly important to recognise and celebrate who you are and ensure that you teach your child the same self respect. This is especially important if you want to counteract the effect of negative media images and racist messages about people of colour.
